The Old Town School of Folk Music celebrates the grand opening of its new East Building in Lincoln Square with 55 days of music, theater and dance performances; classes; family activities, and much more. All events are open to the public and many are free!
Highlights of the 55 day festival include:
A Martin Luther King Day concert featuring the great Ella Jenkins;
A 2-day marathon of every Beatles song ever recorded;
A Sing/dance-along with Occidental Brothers Dance Band International;

Short Shakespeare! The Taming of the Shrew

Chicago Shakespeare Theater provides an introduction to William Shakespeare for all audiences on Saturday mornings at 11 am with its annual Short Shakespeare production.
CST presents a 75-minute abridged production of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, telling the tale of the strong-willed Kate and Petruchio, a man willing to marry her if the price is right.
These likely foes and unlikely lovers enter into Shakespeare’s most famous battle of the sexes, leaving audiences wondering who from this colorful cast of characters tames whom.
